Yeti and the eldar

With our Tale of 40k geeks having started last Saturday and the fact the mrs was going out last night to seize the opportunity to get started on my 500pts of eldar which I'll paint up as coming from craft world Iyanden.

In the four hours I'd managed to fully build 5 wraith guard, 15 dire avengers and the farseer which with a few upgrades is my starting list.

The plan for the next few days will be to prime and paint a test model for the dire avengers and wraith guard units and if I'm happy with the look I'm think of posting a painting tutorial

A tale of 40k geeks (the start)

Starting from the Saturday just gone the contributors of faulty dice decided to take part in a tale of 40k geeks article, this is where each of us will slowly Build up a new army and paint it over the course several months, staring at 500pts and adding another 250pts to our force each month.

To start with we each picked a new army and then worked out a 500 point list that we'll buy, build, paint and play with for the first month, it was also decided that for the smaller point lists (500 & 750) we would not be using the standard force org but instead we'll be using the allies force org and playing games of combat patrol, once we reach a 1000pts we'll then use the standard force org with the possibility of taking allies at 1500pts.

So be prepared for some crazy ork conversions from Bannses, raging about the "ignores fucking cover USR" from Yeti, the math hammer on all the tau units from poontang and what ever the hell wig does.

A tale of 40k geeks

Starting this Saturday The four Faulty Dice contributors are undertaking a tale of 40k geeks where we'll each be starting a new 40k army and sharing that progress with you guys. What follows is a short intro from each of us detailing which army we have chosen, but first this months goals

For the first month (15/6/13-13/7/13) we'll start by writing a 500pts list to buy, build and paint up ready for the end month. We also have plans to start a YouTube channel for us to make some battle reports from our lists.

-----WIG-----

Hello my name is Wig, I'm a man, so the idea of another man with an angry wolf between his legs amuse's me greatly. Hence forth I have chosen to proceed with a new Space Wolf Army. I have no fixed list but I've got some solid ideas. Your never really gonna break new ground with space marines but it always looks the bollocks and gets the job done. I shall be showing you my junk (models) soon as they are painted. Emperors blessings.

-----YETI-----

Back in 95 I took my first steps into the universe of 40k with the pointy eared eldar, so when we decided to start tale of 40k geeks I couldn't resist going back to my first army from all those years ago. The fact that they had a new codex (rumoured when we thought about doing this) was fantastic and the models GW later released are just beautiful which I'll be painting up in the Iyanden colours as I've been wanting to paint a force that uses yellow as its primary colour for a good while now.

-----BANNSES-----

Yo I'm Bannses, I'm gona be collecting Orks coz Gork and Mork came to me in a dream and said I am to lead a mighty Waaagh coz Orks is meant to conquer and make slaves of everyfing they don’t kill.
"But Gork and Mork" I said "It's not easy being Green"
To which they replied "Shut the feck up and build a Waaagh"
So why the hell not... Orkses is never defeated in battle. "If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

-----POONTANG-----

Hello, I'm Poontang

Normally I play Imperial Guard; loads of dudes with standard issue laser pointers and as many autocannons as I can fit into a list normally makes me very happy.

While I was considering doing some tricksy space elves, the kind of army I eventually settled on was already being done, so I've gone for tricksy Space Commies instead. It's for the b̶e̶s̶t̶ greater good.

The Tau take what Guard do, and just do it with real guns rather than dangerous torches. Just a shame they don't have autocannons. So I'll be back to my usual gun line formation, but with a few tricks from markerlights and battlesuits.

I may win, but having played Paul once to often, I've come to the conclusion that it's not enough to beat the opponent. I must spite him. I must make him wish he hadn't played.

Remember; you can't spell "taunt" without "Tau".

Avengers assemble

This morning I had eagerly woken up to be out the house early for one reason and one reason only, to get up the post office at the time of opening so I could grab my new shiny forgeworld model before having going to work.

The model in question is the avenger strike fighter which is just beautiful looking and the rules ain't to bad (H7 s6 ap3) is just a marine killer. So I've got my night sorted cleaning and building this bad boy, then I'll hopefully get it painted by the end of the week.

Side note: had a great game of battle fleet gothic last night against poontang, although I'm not that clued up on the rules it was really fun and looking forward to playing some more games with using the correct rules for the bombardment cannons.

Chimera number 1

Not sure if i'm happy with how it looks, I didn't want it to be too colourful as i wanted it to look like an animal that lives in cold frozen wastelands, so lots of white... not sure now if it looks too plain tho.

I went for tiger stripes so it looks like a white Siberian Tiger crossed with a white dragon and a big scary raven type bird.

Please excuse dodgey white balance I can't remember how to white balance my camera lol.
